1. gain

熟義：v. 獲得，贏得

僻義：

Don’t worry. My watch gains. We still have time. v. 表走得快

The car gained speed gradually. vt.增加(速度或重量)

2. get away with

熟義：帶著…逃跑

僻義：(做壞事)不受懲罰

The child ought to be punished.You shouldn’t let him get away with telling lies.

3. get back

熟義：回來/去，拿回來/去

僻義：報(bào)復(fù)

He will get back at you for this.

4. get down

熟義：下來，使下來

僻義：使情緒低落，身體虛弱

All this waiting and delay is really getting her down.這漫長的等待與拖延使她疲憊不堪了。

5. get down to

著手干某事(勿望文生義)

It’s time I got down to marking the papers.是我開始批改試卷的時(shí)候了。

6. get off

熟義：下車，離開，動(dòng)身

僻義：

I’ll have to get this letter off by tonight.今晚我一定得把信寄出去。

7. get on(with)=get along(with)

8. get through

熟義：接通(電話)

僻義：用完;(使)通過(考試、議案)

He got through ￡300 in a week.他一周就用完了三百英鎊。

9. give away

熟義：贈(zèng)送

僻義：泄露(機(jī)密);暴露(身份);出賣(朋友)

Please don’t give my secret away.請(qǐng)不要泄露我的機(jī)密。

10. give out

熟義：散發(fā)(傳單)等

僻義：宣布;被用完;運(yùn)轉(zhuǎn)失靈

He gave out that he was going to America.他宣布他要去美國。

The fuel gave out.燃料用完了。
